Mountain Men and Women Memorial

Scott and Debbie Bodell are working on a memorial for all of the Mountain Men and Women we have lost over the years. If you can think of any they would like their Names (mountain and given) the dates they were alive. Please leave a comment here with any ideas you may have.

OEMM February 2010

We had nice weather for our trip to Hardware Ranch. Thanks everyone who made medicine bags and helped get the fringe fringed. We all had a nice time visiting and just plain being together.

Our hearts are with Michael & Fran at this time. Robyn was a very special part of this Rendezvous family. She will be missed.

February’s meeting will be at Noon at the Bear River Massacre site. It is the new one at the top of the hill. If you drive past the old site and get to the top of the hill you will turn right and make a switch back to go back to the “look out” that over sees the old site. We will take part in a pipe ceremony there. We are looking forward to spending some time honoring those whose lives were lost at the Massacre site. See you there.

Following the ceremony at the site we will head over to the Riverdale Resort for a meeting and a potluck. Come ready to swim if you wish. If not bring a project to work on while the rest of us enjoy the warm water. If you would like to stay, there are places for RV’s. You can also check with Doug to see if he has any more rooms available.

Scott and Debbie Bodell are trying to put together a memorial for those CVR friends that have passed. If you know names (given and mountain man) and dates please send them back to me and I will forward them on.

Robyn M Thomas

Robyn Michaeline Thomas (1989 - 2010)
GARDEN CITY - Robyn Michaeline Thomas, 20, of Garden City, Utah, passed away at her home on Jan. 17, 2010. She was born May 4, 1989, in Torrance, Calif., to Michael and Rosanne Thomas. Robyn's mother, Rosanne, died in 2001, and her father married Francis Morgan (Thomas) who became Robyn's new mother and soulmate. She moved with her parents to Garden City when Robyn was 6 years old. She attended elementary schools in Logan and Laketown. She graduated from Rich County High School in Randolph, Utah. Robyn loved science and scientific things, and to be outside to experience nature. She was an avid reader, liked to read science fiction and had an impressive knowledge of ancient history. Robyn developed a keen interest in all things relating to the Mountain West Frontier when as a youth she joined the Old Ephraim Mountain Men and Women Club and, along with her mother and father, reveled in the annual Rendezvous. She spent many hours in preparation, building, fixing, designing, arranging and learning the history, traditions and folklore of the mountain men and women and that of the Indian tribes of the same era. She mastered the art and safety of outdoor fire building. She had a large extended family of admiring Old Ephraim mountain men and women. Robyn loved the wildlife around their home on the mountain and made two memorable trips to the grave of Old Ephraim - the famous rogue grizzly bear. She loved British comedies on TV, cats, wild flowers, gardening and visits to grandparents and relatives. She enjoyed the Bear Lake community and was known by many in the area. Robyn is survived by her parents, Michael and Francis Thomas; grandparents, Lloyd H. and Urell Morgan, and James and Marilyn Thomas; a brother, Bryan Morgan (Michaella); and their daughter, Lilly Ann; a niece, aunts and uncles: Clark and Janet Price; Doug and Carol Thomas; Bruce and Shauna Crane; Matt and Wendy Vernon; and David and Ainsley Thomas; and cousins, Rebecca, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Brandon, Ginevra, Demitri, Bess, James, Sadie, Brody and Wesley. Robyn was a very loving person - she always hugged friends and relatives and never failed to hug her mom and dad and tell them she loved them before retiring. The funeral will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, in the 11th Ward Chapel in Logan, Utah, 195 S. 100 East. Internment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by Serenicare of Salt Lake City. There will be a family gathering at 10:30 a.m. in the church house.Donations and flowers should be sent to the 11th Ward Chapel.
