September Meeting Info

We had a great time looking at the artifacts in the Fine Arts Museum at the U of U campus. Many off us came home with enough winter project ideas we will be busy until next spring.
After grabbing a bite of lunch we headed to Lehi to visit Cabela’s. It was a lot of fun to walk through the store and have people stop us and ask why were dressed and where the Rendezvous was. It was great advertising.

Next months meeting will be “Top of Utah” on September 19th. We will shoot our guns to start the race. You need to be heading up Black Smith Fork at 6:00am or earlier. If the weather is good a few of us will camp in Left Hand so we can make it up the canyon. Plan on being stuck up the canyon for a few hours after the race begins. The club will provide breakfast. It will be great to have a bunch of us DRESSED and ready to shoot our guns to start the marathon.
Jim & Karen Gills daughter Jessica was voted in as a pilgrim. Welcome her to our club. Also, it was voted to buy a picture of a bear from a trader for $50.00. This print will be used as the cover to the ledger and then be part of the raffle. Wyatt will take care of the purchase.

Remember if you are having a hard time opening your newsletter you can always check out the blog at
www.cachevalleyrendezvous.blogspot.com

Also new club flags and membership cards are here. If you have paid your dues you will receive them at a meeting if you have not already. If you have not paid your dues you will want to pay them NOW so you can.
See you at the “TOP OF UTAH”, Mandy

The road trip...

Saturday a bunch of us met and traveled to Salt Lake City to view an exhibit at the fine arts museum. There was so much to see. The displays gave us all a few ideas of what we would like to do with our own gear. If any of you did not get to go and would like to know what we saw Not John has the book that contains all of the photos of what is on display.

You may be able to pick the brains of others who went: Jessica & Brian, Leigh and Clark, Wyatt, Les & Debbie, Jeff, Doug, Dani & Troy, Fran & Michael, Jim & Marie, Greg & Jill, Pam, Monica, Shanie, Chad, Tinley & John & Mandy.

After the museum we grabbed lunch and headed to Cabela's. We answered a bunch of questions from people shopping. Everyone wanted to know why we were all dressed "that way". We even got a few contacts of people interested in knowing more. All in all it was a lot of fun. We will be planning more for September. TOP OF UTAH marathon is where we will meet.

Thanks again to everyone who enjoyed the ROAD TRIP.

August 2009 Newsletter

OEMM August 2009 Newsletter

We had a great camp out and mountain man skill day in July. The weather was hot. Despite the weather we enjoyed shooting, starting fire, learning herbs, knife and hawk throwing and beading. We also enjoyed visiting with each other for the weekend.

If you have not heard, Troy Crosbie was in a horrible accident and was in the hospital. He is now out of the hospital and home but is still mending from lots of broken bones and cuts. At the last meeting the club felt it was important for us to help them with a few of their bills because Troy will be out of work for some time. If any of you are interested in contributing to the family on your own there is an account set up at any ZIONS bank under Dani Crosbie’s name.

Dani wishes to thank the club and all of you for your thoughts and concern during this hard time. She appreciated all of the thoughts, calls, and prayer.

It was voted to buy anew amplifier for our sound system. Les is working on getting the system up and running.

Ken Wilson has new CD’s with photos of the last rendezvous on them. They are really neat and he is willing to sell you a copy for $15.00. He does great work and you may even find yourself in a photo.

Fran offered to let us come and camp at her house for the next meeting however the presidency looked at our up coming calendar and decided that the next meeting for August will not be camp out so we can fit everything in this year we want to get done. Thank you for the offer.

Our next meeting will be held August 15th. We will be going to the museum of fine arts on the U of U campus 410 Campus Center Dr. (just follow 4th south East and watch for UFAM signs) They have an amazing display of Native American artifacts.
If you wish to meet at Mandy and Johns 2369 Van Buren in Ogden you may. We will leave here at 11:15am and travel to SLC planning to be at the museum at 12:00pm. Meet in the lobby. Please wear your mountain men attire. If we can get 10 people to go the cost will be $3.00. Otherwise it will cost $7.00. Please send me a message or call to let me know if you will be going so we know how may people to plan on. If you want to meet us there you are more than welcome to do that. Please call Mandy if you have questions 801.336.8062
